Danai Jekesai Gurira (February 14, 1978) is a Zimbabwean-American actress and playwright, born in Grinnell, Iowa.
She has appeared in the films Ghost Town, 3 Backyards, My Soul to Take and Restless City (2011), as well as the television series Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Life on Mars and Law & Order. Danai had a recurring role in HBO series Treme.
Danai Gurira became famous thanks to her portrayal of Michonne on the AMC horror The Walking Dead. Later she took part of Okoye in the Marvel cinematic universe, starring in Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.
Gurira is also the playwright. Her Broadway play Eclipsed was nominated for a Tony Award.
She speaks four languages: French, Shona, basic Xhosa, and English.
